Robert Young Named Technology Park Director

Entrepreneur Robert Young has been named executive director of Whitewater University Technology Park. The park, on the city's east side, is a business incubator for entrepreneurs and high tech startup companies. The first building, the Innovation Center, opened in 2011 and is nearly 70 percent occupied. [From UW-Whitewater 2/15/2012]

LEAP Day

An unusual celebration during this leap year at UW-Whitewater will mark the campus success of LEAP, a national effort to improve learning and teaching. Pro Learning Communities Support High Schools

Although professional learning communities (PLCs) have become widespread in schools, few studies have examined either (a) the process of PLC development in high schools or (b) the contribution of PLCs to the school outcomes of ELs. This article reports the success of a PLC from Sandy Creek High School, one team in a consortium of five school districts participating in an OELA-funded National Professional Development Grant received in 2007 by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
