Keynote Address

Doan Winkel is an assistant professor of entrepreneurship in the Department of Management and Quantitative Methods in the College of Business at Illinois State University. He received a Ph.D. in Management Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and his MBA and Bachelor degrees from Colorado State University. His teaching interests focus on using an experiential approach to engage students in learningabout the mind set and skill set necessary to being successful in creating their own career.

Doan is an active researcher in the study of entrepreneurship education, particularly as the Director of the Entrepreneurship Education Project (see www.entrepeduc.org), and the determinants of entrepreneurship success. His research also focuses on the work-family interface and the motivational processes underlying people’s attempts to juggle their work and family responsibilities.

Doan's work has been published in the New England Journal of Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management Review, the Journal of Organizational and Occupational Psychology, the Journal of Vocational Behavior, the Handbook of Brand Relationships, and has been recognized in the 2008 and 2010 Academy of Management Best Paper Proceedings and with the 2010 Academy of Management Careers Division Best Overall Paper Award.
