COBE Grant Program

Special Note

The University of Wisconsin System will not solicit applications to the Committee on Baccalaureate Expansion (COBE) Grant Program in 2011-2012.  Applicants interested in this program are encouraged to review the University of Wisconsin System Growth Agenda for Wisconsin Grant Program Request for Proposals; the goals and objectives of many suspended University of Wisconsin System grant programs have been incorporated into the Growth Agenda for Wisconsin Program.

Program Information

The University of Wisconsin System seeks proposals to support the development and implementation of new programs or projects to implement one or more of the baccalaureate expansion strategies outlined by the Committee on Baccalaureate Expansion [COBE].

The purpose of the committee is to examine the number and nature of baccalaureate degree holders in Wisconsin as compared with other states, determine why Wisconsin is lagging behind, and recommend cost-effective and collaborative strategies to provide access and opportunities to expand the number of degree completers in our state. The effort will involve:

  • Examining data on degree production in Wisconsin versus other states;
  • Reviewing strategies used in other states to enhance degree production;
  • Seeking input from decision makers and stakeholders in Wisconsin;
  • Considering proposals to expand access to new or existing degree programs; and
  • Recommending proposals to the Presidents of the two Systems.

Deadline and Submission Information

Program Deadline: Suspended for 2011-2012

The above deadline is FIRM.  All collaborative proposals must include the signature of each institution’s Provost or Vice President on the cover page. Applicants must first submit the proposal to the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs for internal review and  assistance in obtaining the required signatures.
