The University of Wisconsin System and WiSys Technology Foundation offer Prototype Development Funds [PDF] to support prototype development to advance the commercial potential of technologies developed on UW System campuses.

Projects funded under this program are likely to:

• Fit the core purpose of the grant program, which is to advance the licenseability of technology disclosed and assigned to the WiSys Technology Foundation.
• Advance a technology to support licensing, enhance licensing terms, or enable commercially important patent claims.
• Employ a solid, appropriate prototype development design that has a high likelihood of success.
• Develop an actual prototype.
• Be cost-effective and appropriate to the scope of the project.  The budget limit is $15,000.

Applicants must first submit the proposal to the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs for internal review and Provost signature.
